Rick Mayhew ObituaryRick Raymond Mayhew passed peacefully on January 16, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by his family. Rick was born in Denver, Colorado, son of Beatrice Mayhew and Paul Senior Mayhew.
At seventeen he joined the United States Navy, he served three tours in Vietnam, as a medic. Rick went on to become a fireman on the Denver Fire Department, then he was a prison guard in Canon City, Colorado. Later, he became a general contractor, and the owner of 3 B's Renovate. He finally retired as the project manager for District 11.
After retirement, Rick spent the rest of his life taking care of his entire family, and the properties he and Marcia owned. He loved fishing and panning for gold. He taught CPR, and he always helped everybody with fixing things and building things. Rick will be missed so much, forever loved.
Rick is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 57 years, Marcia Kay Mayhew; daughters, Babette Owens (Todd Vanderttieden), Bobette Maier (Bill Maier), Bridgette Burk (Tim Brown); grandchildren, Jonathan Owens (Jennifer Romero), Joshua Owens (Heather Hansen), Jessica Thailer (Frank Lake), and Britney Morales; great grandchildren, Robert Owens, Jeremiah Owens, Brianna Owens, Laney Owens, Liliana Chavez, Lorenzo Grimaldo, and Lavina Morales.
A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910 on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM. A short reception will follow, and beverages will be provided.
He will be interred in the Shrine of Remembrance Columbarium, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80910.
