Eileen Anne Mayhew, 91, formerly of Plymouth, passed away on November 13, 2025, at Golden View Health Care Center after a period of declining health.

Born in Nashua, NH, on June 8, 1934, she was the daughter of George F. Sr. and Eileen Anne (Sullivan) Phippard. She grew up in Nashua and was a longtime resident of Plymouth.

Eileen graduated from Nashua High School, Class of 1952, and from Plymouth Teachers College (now Plymouth State University) in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in Education. She began her career teaching first grade at Nashua Elementary School and later taught first and second grades at Ashland Elementary School in Ashland, NH.

After raising her five children, Eileen worked alongside her husband, James, in the operation of Mayhew Funeral Home in Plymouth, a role she fulfilled with dedication for many years. She especially enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada with the New Hampshire Funeral Directors Association during James's tenure as president.

Eileen was predeceased by her husband, James F. Mayhew Sr., in July 2011; her sons, David W. Mayhew in August 2012, and John R. Mayhew in October 2025; and her brother, George F. Phippard Jr., in June 2019.

She is survived by her sons, James F. Mayhew Jr. and Carolyn Varin of Campton, Peter G. Mayhew and his wife, Kelley J. (Gagne) Mayhew, her daughter, Mary Anne Mayhew, of Panama City Beach, FL, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, with the 15th expected in December, and several nieces and nephews, including Kathleen Andrews and her husband Timothy, Timothy Phippard and his wife Elizabeth, Michael Phippard, and Karen Pennington.

Calling hours will be held at Dupuis Funeral Home, Hill Ave., Ashland, NH, on Monday, November 24, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Church St., Lincoln, NH, on Tuesday, November 25, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. John Mahoney, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Lincoln, NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pemi Bridge House, 260 Highland St., Plymouth, NH 03264.
