Rick Neuhaus Obituary

Rick Alan Neuhaus
Edwardsville - Rick Alan Neuhaus, age 70, was called home unexpectedly on August 19, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. He was born in Highland, IL, on December 13, 1954, and lived on Dunlap Lake in Edwardsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan Neuhaus and Dorothy (Hanser) Klueter. as well as his stepfather, Vernon Klueter.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 44 years, Cindy; a brother, Gary (Janet) Neuhaus; a sister, Annete Griebel; two nephews, Joe Ball and Nick (Lynda Henry) Griebel; a niece, Megan Griebel; and one great niece, Sawyer Griebel.
His career as a registered architect and member of the American Institute of Architects spanned over 40 years, 27 of them at Korte Construction in Highland, IL. Most recently he was employed by and part owner of Formation Architects, retiring in 2022.
Rick and Cindy's wit made them excellent "parents" of eight beloved Gordon Setter dogs over the years whom they loved and enjoyed completely; Doo-Da, Fred and Barney, Sierra and Nevada, Bud, and now Duncan and Danny.
They enjoyed living on Dunlap Lake for over 30 years, often entertaining friends and family, treated to Cindy's gourmet cooking.
Rick was a faithful lifelong member of Eden Church, served on the church council and as a board member of Eden Village Retirement Center. He was a shining example of a good Christian. He never judged others and was always quick to forgive.
Rick was such a sports fan he even set phone notifications for game updates. As a 1981 graduate of the University of Illinois with a master's degree in architecture, he was fiercely loyal to the Illini teams and hadn't missed a "Bragging Rights" game in decades.
As an organ donor Rick will improve the lives of nearly 50 people.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday August 29, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 4 until 7 p.m., with the funeral service being held there on Saturday, August 30, at 10:30 a.m., as well, with Rev. John Roberts presiding.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Glen-Ed Pantry or University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.

Rick was such a great man....a Christian man. He and Cindy, together, were like a Dynamic Duo. They were always present at Alumni Players! functions. The last time I saw Rick was at the "Swingin' on a Star" show at the American Legion in June. I'm so glad I had the chance to see him and give him a big hug that night. It just won't seem right not seeing him at reunions or seated in the audience at future events. My deepest, most sincere condolences go out to my sweet friend, Cindy, and the whole family. Rest in Heavenly Paradise, Rick. I Love You & am missing you already. <3
