Rick Young

Rick Ryan Young, son, husband, father, grandfather, coach, teacher, hunter and explorer, passed peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at 79 years of age at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Born Aug. 27, 1946, to Dick and Helen Young, of Potlatch. Rick attended Lewiston High School and graduated in 1964.

Rick furthered his education at Portland State University where he played football for the Vikings. Upon graduation he sailed overseas, where he met and married the love of his life, Sera M. Young. Rick and Sera returned to the United States in 1977, where he later attended Boise State University and earned a master's degree in business.

He taught marketing and headed the DECA program at Lewiston High School until he retired in 2009. Rick then continued ownership of the World of Trophies with his wife.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, sharing western history, talking sports, riding four-wheelers and was an avid fan of hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

Rick is survived by his sisters Judy (Dave) and Pat, his sons Maliko (Macherie) Tanoi and Ike (Cyndi) Young, multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Siva. He was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Helen, sister Jan, wife Sera and son Richard.

A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Wrangler 750 21st St., Lewiston.
