Ricky Burgess, 57, having fought a great fight – passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and loved ones on Friday, June 6, 2025. Ricky was born on December 4, 1967 in San Antonio, Texas to William and Elmarie Bechtold Burgess.
Ricky graduated from Smithson Valley High School in 1986. He went on to have a career at Coleman Co for 15 years, followed by HEB and Lowes. Ricky married his bride in April of 2006 and they resided in New Braunfels; he was a loving and great husband and a great dad to all his kids. Ricky loved to fish, BBQ, watch his sports like wrestling, but especially Ohio State football – and loved people. He never missed an opportunity to cook for someone and loved to show how he cared for you that way. He cooked for his church, he cooked at home, he cooked wherever and whenever opportunity allowed. He loved traveling and gambling, especially playing Bingo. Ricky had a way with people – of all ages too; young, old, babies, it didn't matter, he knew how to talk to everyone. He never missed an opportunity to crack a joke, make you smile, or just let you know he genuinely cared. Ricky was always upbeat no matter what seemed to be going on. He always had a great outlook on life. He knew Who's he was and Whom he belonged to and never waivered in that.
Ricky is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents; William and Elmarie Burgess; brothers, Royal and Phil and step-son Chris Lowe. He is survived by his loving wife, Leesa Burgess; daughter, Jordan and step- daughters Jessicca and Jaime, their spouses and his grandkids Maria, Nico, Colt, Zayde and Moxyn and great grandchildren.; his sister Margaret Braun, nephews Chris Braun, Jason Braun and Mark Braun as well as their spouses and many great nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be at Everyday Christian Fellowship on June 21, 2025 at 10 a.m.
