Ricky D. Cross

STEWARTSTOWN – Ricky D. Cross, 64, of Stewartstown, died peacefully late on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, after a period of declining health and surrounded by his family.
He was born in West Stewartstown on Aug. 28, 1959, the only son to Wilbur and Janice (Brooks) Cross. He was raised and attended schools in Colebrook, while also working on the family farm on North Hill, and was a 1977 graduate of Colebrook Academy. Following high school, Ricky enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably on active duty and continued in the Army Reserve and the National Guard for more than 25 years.
Following his active duty service, Ricky returned home and began a 22 year career at Ethan Allen. He loved to make Christmas tree stands and he loved the Christmas season. Ricky cherished time spent with his grandchildren, watching them play sports, and always loved family get-togethers and barbecues. He enjoyed fishing and to be at the lake. Ricky also loved to go for rides, stopping at various places to visit and pick up the latest scratch tickets. He loved to play cards with his daughter, Rachel, and more recently had become a fan of car racing, watching his granddaughter Kyra race at the Riverside Speedway.
Ricky leaves behind his two daughters, Rachel (Daniel) Chilafoe of W. Stewartstown, and Cheryl Cross of No. Conway; his father, Wilbur Cross of Colebrook; his partner for the past twenty years, Kim Trask of Columbia; a step-son, Mark Cooper; three grandchildren, Greenlee and Kade Cameron, and Kyra Chilafoe, and a special person who he considered as close as a grandson, Dakota Flanders, currently serving in the U.S. Army; as well as numerous, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He is predeceased by his mother in 2002 and a daughter, Heather, in 2001.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A private graveside interment service will be held at a later date in the Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery.
