Ricky DeCorte Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory - Ball on May 7, 2025.
On May 2, 2025, our beloved Rick Corte took the checkered flag in his earthly race and received the trophy of eternal life from our heavenly Father.
Rick was born November 23, 1955, in Houma, Louisiana. His earliest career goal was to open his own mobile home dealership and with the help of family, that's exactly what he did. Piloting the business of Rick's Mobile Homes in Alexandria for 40+ years, whether it be selling, delivering or repairing; he did it all. Later in life, the business transitioned to Rick's Trailer City, filling the cargo trailer needs of so many other businesses and racers alike.
As much as he aspired to be a businessman, when Rick moved to Alexandria, he discovered his true passion that would be with him the rest of his life: dirt track racing. Fueling this drive were the local tracks where he learned from names like Phillips, Fowlkes, and Woods. From The B class to 6 cylinders, winged modifieds, and east coast modifieds, Rick was blessed with success in them all. With his pit crew and fans rooting him on, the #10 became a local legend, winning features, points championships and state championships. Rick was a gentleman on and off the track, always willing to lend a helping hand to a fellow racer. His kindness and sportsmanship will long be remembered by the countless lives he touched. Even after he hung up the helmet, he continued to support the sport by encouraging and mentoring the next generation of racers, like his nephew Brandon Hightower. When the dirt settled, Rick bought a new hot rod, his '37 International truck. He enjoyed going to car shows, proudly displaying it and listening to the engines rev.
Rick is preceded in everlasting life by his parents, Chuck and Aline "Kathy" Thibodeaux and James Corte; two brothers, Michael Thibodeaux and Jimmy Corte; plus many dogs waiting at the rainbow bridge.
Left to carry on the race are his sister and brother in law, Lisa & Mark Lemmons; his beloved niece and nephew, Sarah Smith (Ben) and Morgan Lemmons; his cherished family by choice, Kevin Hightower, Sandy Hightower, Brittany Allen (Jacob), Brandon Hightower (Emma), Brother Fowlkes, Holli Rachal; and his fur daughter, Daisy Mable.
Visitation will be Friday, May 9th, 2025 starting at 9am with service at 11am at Gallagher Funeral Home with Scott Lemmons officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Gary Lemmons, Shawn O'Toole, Brother Fowlkes, Brandon Hightower, Michael Fearrand and Morgan Lemmons. Honorary pallbearers Ben Smith and Mike Sellers.
