Ricky Homer Obituary

Ricky Eugene Homer was born on August 1, 1951, to C.E. and Ida Lynn Homer and passed away on October 12, 2025 in Gregg County Texas.

Rick joined the Marines after graduating from Mt. Pleasant High and honorably served 4 years. After he left the Marines, he worked in East Texas before returning back into the service. This time he chose the Army. After 20 (combined) years of service all across the globe he retired and was ready for some relaxation. Relaxation for him was finding the right civilian job. For him that was working at Skeeter Boats in Kilgore Tx. He worked there for most of his remaining years of work until he started to become ill. Between 2013 and 2015 he fought through a huge battle of Hemochromatosis. He won that battle and that led him to be even stronger in the life of Serving the Lord, Loving his wife, kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On December 28, 1970, while on leave from the Marines Rick married the love of his Life Judith Ann Williams who he met when they were 15 years old in Mt. Pleasant TX. She traveled the globe with his military career in every spot that would allow. Rick would do anything and everything for her. She was the one who helped him through all facets of life and made sure he never gave up hope of any dream. They had 3 children. Daughters, Melinda (Louis) Odle, Kristi (Larry) Morgan; and Son Daniel (Jenifer) Homer.

Rick never saw a body of water that he didn't try to fish. That was one of his passions in life. Also, he was never afraid to pray with, or give someone a pocket Angel. Everyone that knew him knew he was a Humbled Husband, straight point father, God Fearing, Honored Soldier, that loved to fish, witness, and help others. After he recovered from Hemochromatosis, he spent all the time he could witnessing, and helping others. Rick proudly was Ordained to be not only a Deacon of Judson Baptist Church; he was Ordained as a Minister as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents C.E. & Ida Homer, His brother Perry Homer, His beloved in-laws Dale and Edna Williams as well as his amazing wife of almost 49 years Judy Homer.

He leaves behind 2 sisters Mary and Ann, his 3 children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. As well as Brothers and sisters in Military and Christ.

A memorial service will be held at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Longview TX 75601 on Thursday October 16th. Visitation will be at 1pm with the funeral starting at 2pm. Burial will be done at DFW National Cemetery on a later date for family. Flowers or donations under his name to Judson Community Baptist Church Building fund are appreciated.
