Ricky Nelson Johnson Sr. Born November 22nd, 1964, passed away peacefully at home on December 2nd, 2024.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Haywood and Alberta Johnson and two brothers Buck and John Johnson.
He is survived by his four children Sarah Johnson (Jeremy), Ricky Nelson Johnson Jr. (Chelsea), Ashley Johnson (Chris) and Michael Johnson (Jasmyne); his ten grandchildren Natalie Powell, Randall Johnson, Evan Powell, Loralie Johnson, Mikayla Cox, Liam Cox, Kennedy and Serenity Johnson, Aylissa Cox and Peighton Wilton; three sisters Nellie Shiflett, Shirley Griffith and Sharon Fowler; A devoted friend Barbara Davis; the mother of his children Tammy Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ricky grew up in Columbia VA. He worked many years for Richardsons Carpet Installation where he was known as one of the best. He was a hard worker and a fighter until the end. He enjoyed dancing from a young age, fishing and being with his family. He loved being a Daddy and loved his children with all of his heart. Then came the grand babies and he so loved being a Papa they were the light of his life. He will be greatly missed by many and remembered forever.
All services will be held at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 4768 Shannon Hill Road, Columbia, Virginia. Family and friend's visitation will be held Thursday December 5th, 2024, from 6:00-8:00pm and funeral service to be held on Friday December 6th, 2024, at 2:00pm. Interment to immediately follow the Thurston Cemetery.
