Ricky Murra, age 63, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on April 15, 2025.
Ricky Earl Murra was born on June 10,1961 to Richard and Ruth (Shaner) Murra in Iowa Falls. He joined the army as soon as he was old enough. Joining in 1980 where he received his GED.
Ricky proudly served his country for 19 years. He served 3 years in the active army and 16 years in the army reserve. Also serving in the National Guard. He traveled to many places throughout his career. He spent a couple years in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and a couple years in Fort Bliss, Texas. Then going on to spend 6 years in Germany. Also traveling to South America while in the National Guard. He made Sargent in the army, a title he was incredibly proud of. He was honorably discharged in 1999.
After his time in the army Ricky moved to many places including Webster City, Fort Dodge, Forest City, and Iowa Falls before settling in Marshalltown. He worked many jobs including landscaping, Walmart, and Winnebago. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and weight lifting. He also loved his family very much. Sometimes even dressing as a clown at birthday parties for his nieces and nephew.
Ricky is survived by his brother, Randy Murra of Iowa Falls; sisters, Nancy Moree of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Mary Gaston of Beaman, Iowa, and Becky (Chuck) Dayton of Webster City, Iowa, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Murra; mother, Ruth Murra; infant brother, Bobby Murra; sisters, Judy Murra and Cindy Murra; and niece, Sara Gaston.
Per Ricky's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded an no formal services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family for a later designation.
