SSG Ricky George Roberson, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Tokyo, Japan, he had lived in Mexia, Alabama, for the last fourteen years. He was a member of The Monroe Branch of The Church of Latter-Day Saints. He will be remembered for his service and the love he shared with those around him. He retired from the Army after serving twenty-one years as a Kiowa and Chinook Crew Chief, and as a USAALS Instructor. He served for nine years overseas, in various locations around the world. In addition to his military service, he held various church callings. He was known for his abiding love of all animals. Fishing trips with family and friends brought him joy, and he cherished being outdoors. As a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather, he made it a priority to spend quality time with his loved ones. He loved cooking Japanese food for an adventurous crowd, and had a passion for grilling with the men. His faith guided him as he faithfully served in his family, church, and country. He was preceded in death by his parents Otha and Masami Roberson, and his brother, Keith Roberson. He is survived by his sister Yoon Hee, his loving wife Cheryl, and his children and grandchildren who love and adore him. This love is eternal, and the belief that families can be together forever has been sacredly held and will continue to be our comfort until we are reunited in the eternities. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on August 31, 2025 at The Monroe Branch of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Goodway. A private burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please honor Rick's love of animals with donations to the Humane Society or shelter of your choice.
