Ricky Charles Saunders, beloved husband, father, brother, and “Papaw,” passed away on October 13, 2025, in Sunnyvale, Texas, at the age of 64.

Ricky was born on January 20, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, to Billy Charles Saunders and Pauline Borthwick. He spent his life in Texas, where his heart and roots ran deep. Ricky is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Donna Sue Saunders; his sons Jonathan Brett Saunders and Riad Almasri; his daughter Amanda Lorrain Almasri; sisters Debbie Ramirez and Patty Boyett; brother Randy Strawn; his precious grandchildren — Layla Belle Almasri, Jude Almasri, Savannah June Almasri, Noah Almasri, Jeremiah Blake Saunders, Jackson “Jax” Almasri, Elijah “Jaja” Saunders; and many nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Danny Strawn, mother Pauline Strawn, daughter Jennifer Saunders, brother Larry Saunders Sr., nephew Corey Saunders, and great-nephew Nathan Saunders. Ricky was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering dedication.

He spent 30 years with Fritz Industries, where he served as Lead Supervisor and earned the respect and friendship of everyone who worked alongside him. After retiring, Ricky poured his heart and energy into Wildflower Longhorn Ranch, where he loved tending to his longhorn cattle, mending fences, and enjoying the simple peace of life outdoors. Ricky had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor that could light up any room. His unique blend of wit and wisdom meant that conversations with him were always lively, memorable, and often ended with a perfectly timed, dry one-liner. He was the first to lend a hand, share a joke, or make someone laugh — even on the toughest days. His family and friends could always count on him for honesty, laughter, and love. Nothing made Ricky happier than time spent with his family. Whether he was fishing in the lake, working around the ranch, or playing dominoes with his wife and grandkids — affectionately known as his “thoroughbreds” — he found joy in every moment shared with them. The ranch was his haven but they were his heart. Ricky will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a ranch that will never look quite the same and a family who will forever miss his laughter echoing across the pastures.

Funeral will be held on October 17, 2025 at Quinlan Funeral Home in Quinlan, Texas. Viewing 10am and service will be held at 11:00am. Flowers, and condolences may be offered to the family or made in Ricky’s memory.
