Mr. Ricky L. Smith

Ricky L. Smith, 62, of Columbus, died unexpectedly Monday, November 21, 2022 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Ricky was born January 1, 1960, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Floyd E. and Naomi R. Smith-West
He will be remembered as a practical joker who enjoyed having fun. Ricky had a passion for gardening. Sunflowers being one of his favorites to grow. On many occasions he would even help his mother and oldest sister do their spring planting as well. He loved life. Ricky had a love for meeting new people and going to new places. On many occasions he would throw on a backpack and just go. Once making it from Indiana to California and home again. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Autumn Renee Smith-Sonny; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Greeley, Colorado; mother, Naomi Ruth West of Columbus; siblings, Michael Smith, also of Columbus, Dianna (Scott) Winters of Memphis, Indiana, Floyd Leon Smith of Uniontown, Indiana, Connie Sue (Steve) West-Reutemann of Hope; seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Smith and sister-in-law, Kim Smith.
The family has chosen cremation and a memorial service for Ricky will be held Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Ed Boston officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
