TRUMANN - Ricky Joe Speakes, 64, of Trumann, departed this life Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 at the family residence. He was born in Joplin, MO, on September 27, 1961 to the late Jimmy Joe and Sue Stockam Speakes. He lived most of his lifetime in Trumann, was a member of Corners Chapel Baptist Church in Payneway.
He was retired from Nettleton Concrete. He started farming at an early age on the family farm. He worked over 20 years on a River Boat where he was a captain and received a Coast Guard Accommodation for heroic actions. He enjoyed riding his Harley, spending time with family and spreading the love of Jesus. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Matthew Joe Brown.
He is survived by his wife of many years, Brenda Mincy Speakes of the home; son, Perry (Crystal) Heavener of Cushman, AR; two nieces, who were more like daughters, Candice Burgess of Trumann; Crystal Hatcher-Thomas (Michael) of Jonesboro; two sisters, Kate Large and Beverly Speakes, both of Cherokee Village, AR; two brothers, Randy Speakes of Trumann and Darrell (Judy) Speakes of Brookland; six grandchildren, Madison, Jagger, Bo, LeAnna, Elizabeth, and Logan, and loved by several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. A Celebration of life will be Friday, Oct. 3, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Corners Chapel Baptist Church, 6976 1st Ln, Trumann, AR 72472, with the Rev. Glenn Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Jonesboro under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Garrett Woods, Jay Ryan Woods, Steve Tacker, Jimmy Stotts, and Glenn Gillis. Honorary Pallbearers are the men of his Sunday school class at Corners Chapel Baptist Church.
