Ricky E Taylor, born November 26th 1954, in Wilmington NY, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 3rd at CVPH medical center. Ricky served in the US Army, including three years active duty stationed in Germany.
Ricky leaves behind his devoted life partner, Claudia Boddy, of 31 beautiful years from West Chazy and his children, Joseph Fuller from Plattsburgh, Alex Fuller from Plattsburgh, Jessica Furnia (Justin Furnia) from Peru and his beloved grandchildren, Mia Taylor and Roman Furnia.
Ricky spent his life devoted to all things nature. Fishing, camping, hunting, bicycling, woodworking, admiring all the world has to offer. In the eyes of Ricky's life partner, he was more than a partner, but a best friend. The person to always listen and have endless inside jokes with. They raised children together and then enjoyed the beauty of becoming grandparents together. In the words of his son, Joey, "you've taught me so many lessons in life, I wish there was time for more." In the words of his son, Alex, "You were the first friend I ever made in life and the last one I wanted to lose." In the words of his daughter, Jessica, "Your widsom and life lessons has shaped me into the person I am today, the mother I am today, I will always work to make you proud."
Ricky was the epitome of a hard working individual, anything wanted was earned. He said often how proud he is of his son's, and son in law, for being exactly what he always imagined- ready to get up and work hard for what you want. Ricky believed in this world, there is a place for everyone. Everyone deserves equality and peace, there was no room for hate in his heart or his view of the world. Ricky is proud of his daughter for living in those values, through her lifelong work in community service and advocacy for those not often heard. Through years of his voice, she found her voice and uses it for the good of others.
Ricky loved more than anything being a grandfather, or "giggy," as his granddaughter named him early on. He enjoyed teaching Mia and Roman about nature, pulling them around on the lawn mower, admiring every rock they picked up. Ricky often spoke in amazement at his grandchildren, as they are both outside of the box thinkers. He believes they will change the world one day.
While Ricky may not physically be here, his grandchildren are often looking around for signs of him- the sky, a beautiful tree, a butterfly flying past. The memories will live on forever and important life lessons that came from Ricky will be taught for generations to come.
The family of Ricky would like to thank the amazing staff of R5 at CVPH, with extra thanks to Walter (RN) who went above and beyond the call of duty in Ricky's final hours.
Per Ricky's wishes, there will be no formal service. In leiu of flowers, Ricky requested donations to the benefit of his life partner to continue the journey of being a grandparent to his pride and joy, his grandchildren. Donations can be sent to NAMI-CV 304 New York Road, Plattsburgh NY 12903 labeled, "For Ricky's family"
