Ricky Carl Wooten, age 63, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
He was born November 20, 1961 at Greenville, MS, he was a son of the late Walter Carlton Wooten and Margie Ruth Barnett Wooten. After spending his early years in Mississippi, he moved to Monticello, Arkansas where he graduated from High School. He then went to work for Curry Machine and Tool Boat Shop and attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Ricky met the love of his life, Carol, on New Year's Day, 1985. They were married on November 9th of that year, which was the first day of deer season. He killed an 8-point buck early that morning.
Ricky and Carol were blessed with two children, Amy and Zachary. He loved his grandchildren, Carson, Aspen, and Liam. He enjoyed watching Carson play football and Aspen cheer and dance. Carson and Ricky had a very special relationship, and though a grandson, he was raised and treated as a son.
He started working at Jefferson Regional Medical Center with on-the-job training in respiratory therapy. He earned his Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certifications. Ricky worked for 34 years at JRMC as a therapist and shift supervisor. After his retirement, he did travel work during the COVID pandemic. He had also worked at the Arkansas Heart Hospital for ten years He made many wonderful friends throughout his career.
Ricky was saved and a member of Shannon Road Baptist Church for many years. He currently attended The Refuge and loved to read and study his Bible. He had drawn very close to the Lord, and we have comfort knowing that he is at the feet of Jesus.
He loved the beach, and he was Carol's "pool boy". Ricky was an avid gardener and meticulous with lawn care. An avid football fan, he followed the Razorbacks and the Cincinnati Bengals. He loved to hunt and fish. He passed away while fishing- doing what he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Drake Wooten; his children, Amy Wooten (fiancée, Zachary Hoopingarner) and Zachary Wooten; his grandchildren, Carson Wooten, Aspen Hoopingarner, and Liam Hoopingarner; and also his beloved dogs, Rex, Rufus, and his precious Daisey. Other family includes his brother, Randy Wooten (Patty); his sister, Rhonda Greenlee (Mark); and many friends and family that loved him.
