It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rita Jean Bailey, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Rita passed away June 17, 2025, in McKinney, TX. She was born on June 21, 1950, and was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Scott Bailey, her parents, Goldie Faye and Robert Charlie Ross, Sr., and brother Robert Charlie Ross, Jr.
Rita grew up in Roswell, NM and held many fond memories of her childhood there. She often spoke of the friendships, experiences and moments that shaped her early years and she carried the warmth of Roswell with her. Rita later made Lubbock, TX her home, where she created a lasting legacy of love, grace, and enduring strength. She is remembered and cherished by her daughters, Sharon Bailey of Midland, TX, and Brandy Ray and her husband Jody Ray of Little Elm, TX. As a grandmother, she brought joy and happiness to her granddaughters, Kirstyn Ray and Sarah Ray, as well as her great-grandson, Knox. She is also survived by her brothers, Donald Ross (Cora) and Steve Ross (Kenny).
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Lubbock, TX to honor her. Rita was a woman of quiet strength whose presence brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those privileged to have shared her life and she will be deeply missed.
