Rita Cavosi Bertoldi's beautiful life of 94 years ended peacefully on August 6th and her journey continues as she joins her predeceased husband Ezio (2021) and her beloved son, Bruce (2007). Born in Coaldale, PA in 1930, she was the youngest of three beautiful sisters, Clara Cavosi Toffenetti, the oldest who passed away too early in 1973 and Elizabeth Cavosi Bertoldi in 2021. Bruno and Mary Cavosi, their parents moved their girls to Brooklyn, NY just before the start of World War II and then finally settled in South Vineland, NJ on a chicken farm. It was there that the Cavosi girls connected with their Tyrolean community and both Rita and Elizabeth met their respective husbands, brothers, Ezio and Mario Bertoldi in 1946.
Rita and Ezio were married March 17, 1951 while Ezio was on a 3-day furlough after completing US Army boot camp and before his deployment to Germany. Rita worked and saved for their future while Ezio was stationed in Germany for 19 months.
Rita is survived by her daughters, Carol Bertoldi Freedman and Jacklyn and her husband Tony Boscaglia; grandchildren Anthony Boscaglia, his wife Jessica and their children, Avery and Grayson, Andrea Ferrara (Boscaglia), her husband Nick and their son Brooks, Laurie Freedman, Andrew Freedman and his fiancé, Jackie Bolivar and Jessica and Justin Bertoldi. She is also survived by brother-in-law Carlo Bertoldi, his wife Joann and many nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Ezio Bertoldi in 2021; son, Bruce Bertoldi in 2007; parents, Bruno & Mary Cavosi; and her son-in-law David Freedman.
Rita was instrumental in working alongside her husband Ezio in managing Bertoldi Construction Company while working full time in a clothing factory for many years. In 1975 Rita along with her friend Frances Rovani, opened "The Jewelry Box" in a renovated part of her home on Butler Avenue. Rita's daughter, Jackie, became a partner after Frances left the business.
Rita loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren in both New Jersey and in Massachusetts. She sewed, painted and played golf in her spare time and enjoyed her 13 years with Ezio living in the Villages, FL. Both she and Ezio returned to Vineland in 2016.
Interment services will be held Monday at 11:30 am from Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, 741 E Walnut Rd, Vineland.
