Rita Ann Blum, age 81, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Willows in Willard. She was born on August 5, 1942 in Reed Township, Ohio, one of seven children to the late John P. and Helen M. (Fox) Roth.
An Attica High School graduate, Rita worked at RR Donelley and Sons for 30 years. She was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard. In her spare time, she loved to crotchet; many afghans and baby clothes were her poplar projects. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats.
She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Blum, who she wed on July 16, 1977; two children, Allan James Roth and Tina Marie Roth Southard; two grandsons, Kyle Patrick Southard and Kenneth John (McKenzie) Southard; three siblings, Victor (Ann) Roth, Raymond (Marge) Roth and Donna (Dennis) Enders; brother-in-law, Norman Emerine; sister-in-law, Sue Roth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by three siblings, Lorena Emerine, Kathlene Studer and Richard Roth.
Family and friends may visit at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Attica, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. So sorry to hear of Rita's death. She was our babysitter for many years. Not sure how many of us there were at the time. But she was always fun. Of course, being members for Reed Assumption Church meant we all knew everyone within a 10mile radius from our house. Of course our family (Schank) and Roth families were connected in so many ways since her dad was our bus driver and several of us were classmates with her siblings.
She and Rich visited Jerry and I several years ago when passing through PA to visit relatives on the East Coast. That visit meant a lot to Jerry.
Please know you all are in my prayers as you grieve her passing. Your memories of her are now so special.
