Rita Jean Coleman

Rita Jean Coleman, was close to the Catholic Church. She gave of her time, and resources to Xavier University. Often, housing Priests, studying for the Priesthood. "Aunt" as we in the family, affectionately, called her, worked for Mrs. Edith Stern, at Longue Vue Gardens, for 28 years. Mrs. Stern, Owner of the Sears Empire, would take Rita with her on her travels. Mrs. Stern would rely on Rita, as a confident for many things, such as sewing to mend her clothes, fixing coffee, and assisting her daily. "Aunt" loved red roses. At Longue Vue Gardens, she was always surrounded by roses, and many plants. In the family, "Aunt" took family members to many of her travels around the world. Traveling to many places, became Rita's Hallmark. She would bring back gifts for the family and friends. Rita had the currency and stamps from all the countries she visited. Thank you, "Aunt" for opening up the world to the family. Thank you for sharing your world experiences and gifts for the benefit of everyone. And thank you for your great contribution to the Catholic Church, and Xavier University. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 8321 Burthe Street, New Orleans, LA 70118 on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11:00am.
