Rita Darlene Cummings

Rita Darlene Cummings, age 70, of Taswell, IN passed away at her home on Wednesday July 31, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Rita was born on March 6, 1954, in New Albany, Indiana to James Everett and Maybell (Goodson) Johnson.
She worked at Benny's Off the Water in Birdseye, Indiana for many years serving local customers and friends. Rita was known for her hard work, she worked at various places. She would leave one job and go to her next job. She worked and made many friends at Painter's Creek French Lick, Indiana, Great Wall in Jasper, Indiana, and Jasper Seating Company in Jasper, Indiana. When Rita wasn't working you might catch her at the French Lick Casino, which she loved to visit. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents, James and Maybell Johnson, her first husband, Alan "Frenchie" Lucas, her infant brother, Dennis Johnson, and her niece Kim Zehr – Johnson.
Those left to mourn her loss, her daughter, Tina Madden, her Step- children, Cody Cummings, Jody Montgomery, their father and her long-time companion and husband, Terry Cummings, her grandchildren, Jevin Madden, Jade Madden, her brother, Randy (Shelly) Johnson, her step- nephew, Tyson Asbury, great- nephew, Dustin Mason, Jordan Zehr, Timothy Asbury, great niece, Makynzie Asbury, and a great great niece Maddie, and many friends.
Funeral service be on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at, Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana with Bro. Al Madden to officiate. Friends may visit on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM at Denbo Funeral Home in English, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers friends can make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in memory of Rita.
