It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Rita Janell Ferguson, who left us peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Gladewater, Texas. Born on September 3, 1948, in Pensacola, Florida, Rita lived a rich and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Rita was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. She leaves behind her loving children: Victoria Hart, James Ferguson, and Sheila Johnson, along with her sisters, Starre McKay and Connie Lawrence. Rita was a proud grandmother to Steven Holt, Tanda Salge, Miranda Sloan, Lane Ferguson, Cody Ferguson, Vidallia Lumpkins, Raven Johnson, Buddy Ferguson, Eric Johnson, and Wyatt Johnson, as well as a great-grandmother to nine beautiful great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Rita is now at peace, reunited with her beloved husband, James Ferguson, her parents Ralph Malone and Julia Wilson, her brother Glenn Malone, and her sister Wanda Rhodes.
Join us in remembering Rita's vibrant spirit during the memorial service that will be held on September 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas. There will also be a visitation on September 5, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, where friends and family can gather to share their memories and celebrate her extraordinary life.
