Rita Patricia Kaprosy Obituary Funeral Mass for Rita P. (nee Tekalec) Kaprosy, 82, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor. Fr. Tom Johns officiating.
Rita passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at her home in Mentor, surrounded by her adoring family.
Born Jan. 13, 1943, in Cleveland, Rita had lived in Mentor for the past 55 years.
Rita was a spirited woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved taking trips to the casinos, where the flashing lights and sounds of the slot machines always brought a smile to her face. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing off the many piers along Florida's coast, with Sharky's Pier in Venice holding a special place in her heart. Whether she caught something or not, the peaceful rhythm of the waves was reward enough. At home, Rita nurtured a thriving garden, tending to both colorful flowers and hearty vegetables with equal care and pride. Rita retired after a fulfilling 25 year career at Lubrizol in Wickliffe.
She was the beloved wife of Michael J. Kaprosy; loving mother of John M. (Kim) Kaprosy, Dale A. (Christy) Kaprosy and Douglas J. Kaprosy (Anina Chandler); cherished grandmother of Melyssa, Erin, Jennifer, John, Kate, Luke and Mason; and great-grandmother of Olivia and Cole.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Blanche (nee Decker) Tekalec; and siblings, Joe, Tony and Barb.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Rt. 615, N. of Rt. 2), Mentor.
