Rita Swails Kittrell

Rita Swails Kittrell, aged 63, of Bethel, Pennsylvania, passed away following an illness on April 26, 2025.

Born in Jesup, Georgia, Rita moved to Roanoke Rapids as a young child, where she spent much of her life surrounded by family and friends. She was the beloved daughter of the late Leonard and Rosa Lee (Spell) Swails.

Rita is survived by her devoted siblings Leonard Swails, Robert Swails, Harold Swails, and Maxine Blowe, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and will carry forward her memory with affection. She was preceded in death by her sisters Latrelle Swails, Bonnie Minton, Lawanna Mena, and Linda Glidden, and by her brothers Perry Swails and Brett Swails.

Rita was most proud of her son Levi Wyatt Kittrell who proceeded her in death on October 2, 2024. Levi was in her words her greatest accomplishment.

Rita will be remembered for her quiet strength, her enduring kindness, her strong work ethic, and the deep love she held for her family and friends. Her warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who know her.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St, Lancaster, PA 17602 starting at 10:00 am.  A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am at the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her son Levi Kittrell.
