Rita Carol (Coe) Leftwich

Mrs. Rita Carol Coe Leftwich, age 88 of Cana, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 30, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Leftwich was born on December 12, 1937, in Surry County to the late Brady Elmer and Florence Ethel Moore Coe. Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was a faithful member Westview Baptist Church. After many years of service, she retired from Renfro Hosiery Mill; she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Pamela Leftwich Busick and Ronald, Mimi Leftwich Shepherd; daughter-in-law, Judy Leftwich; one granddaughter, Misty Hawks and Duane; three grandsons, Ponch and Ashley Yates, Levi and Elizabeth Payne, Chaz and Sara Payne; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Elijah, Westin, Layton, Easton, Fisher, Maeve; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leftwich was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Willie Leftwich; a son, Dennis Craig Leftwich; a grandson, Dennis Craig “DJ” Leftwich, Jr.; a sister, Verona Coe Reece; and four brothers, Elmer Hylton Coe, Winford Windell Coe, Joseph Thomas Coe, and Melvin Lewis Coe. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Mr. Ponch Yates officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
