Mrs. Sylvia Ila Vernon Collins, age 84 of Cana, Virginia passed into eternal rest on Saturday, March 14, 2026 ,at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Collins was born on July 14, 1941, in Carroll County to the late William Cleve and Emmie Easter Vernon. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Ronnie Gray Collins and Misty; five grandchildren, Kevin Payne, Dustin Payne, Michael Collins and Dana, Samuel Collins, Judah Collins; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Pernie Sue Vernon Arnold; special friends, Dusty and Debbie Kite, Carol Hiatt; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Gray Collins; a daughter, Judy Ann Collins; son, Stanley Keith Collins; sister, Ernie Vernon Flippin; and four brothers, Franklin Vernon, Gene Vernon, Robert Vernon, and Cecil Vernon. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 11:00 Am at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Gray Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Cana, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, March 16, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
