Rita McCorkle Obituary

Rita Mae Renew McCorkle SUMMERVILLE - Rita Mae Renew McCorkle, 94, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on September 20, 2025 at NHC in Anderson, SC. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born on October 27, 1930, in Savannah, GA to Johnnie Jack Renew and Lillie Mae Saturday Renew. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Coy McCorkle, Sr., son, James Coy McCorkle, Jr., and daughter, Sandra McCorkle Donnan. Mrs. McCorkle was a member of Old Fort Baptist Church in Summerville, SC. She retired after many years of service as a sales associate at Belk. She is survived by her sons, Barry (Dawn) McCorkle and Alan McCorkle; grandchildren, Allison (Andy) Clark, Tucker Wilkes, James C. McCorkle III, Lauren (Brookes) Lawton, Leann (Kyre) Mullaney, Savannah (Brandon) Beard, Sydney McCorkle, Harrison McCorkle, Miranda McCorkle, David Ackerman, and great-grandchildren: Anson and Ella Clark, Mallie McCorkle, Macie and Maverick Mullaney, and McCalley and Maylee Lawton. She loved cooking big family meals and entertaining family, which included the occasional game of bingo and rummy. She had a witty sense of humor and loved laughing over old stories with family. Her love for the Lord was evident in how she joyfully served others. The family will have a graveside service on Friday, September 26th, at 2pm, at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park- East in Savannah, Georgia.
