December 8, 1964 – December 3, 2025

A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church in Roswell on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10am for Rita L. Niccum, 60, who passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 in Roswell, New Mexico. Rita was cremated according to her wishes and a private ceremony was held previously at McBride Veterans Cemetery in Roswell.

Rita was born on December 8, 1964, in Odessa, Texas to Lonnie & Shirley Elms who preceded her in death along with her sisters Shanna Elms and Shelly Powell. Rita is survived by the love of her life for 41 years, her husband Don Niccum, daughter Melanie Grant, and her grandson Colby. Her brother, Randy (Barbara) Elms and numerous Nieces & Nephews and Sons By Choice Alan (Kelly) Galassini and their daughters Cassidy & Allie; Clarence (Jen) Galassini and their children (Angela & Adien) and many friends that she considered family (Too many to list. If you know, you know.). Rita loved her four legged babies, Isis, Blossom and Athena. In her spare time she enjoyed kicking Don's *^*^* in video games and watching Yellowstone and Landman to name a few. Rita was a big supporter of the Chaves County Cancer Fund Walk for Hope.

She attended high school in Odessa Texas and the received a degree in Mass Communications from Odessa College. Rita began her radio career at the ripe old age of 14 in Brownwood, Texas and learned Broadcast Engineering on the job. She worked in Texas, Nevada and New Mexico for radio and TV stations.

Rita married Don Niccum, November 2, 1985 in Snyder, Texas. Rita worked as the Chief Engineer for Majestic Communications for the past 4 years and assisted with other radio stations in the area as well as Operating and Owning her own successful Broadcasting Engineering Company, Niccum Broadcast & Computer Services in Roswell. In lieu of flowers or liquor, please send donations in memory of Rita Niccum to the Chaves County Cancer Fund (P.O. Box 193, Roswell, NM 88202).
