Rita Novakowsky Obituary
Rita was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey survived by her cousins Anthony M. Zengaro, Joseph Novak, and forever friends Margaret Wilson and husband Charles and son John, James McLaughlin (Marine Officer) and wife Mrs. McLaughlin and son Alejandro, and Sister Rebecca. Rita was predeceased by her mother Mary and father John.
Rita retired in 2015 after 40 years as a Catholic school teacher mostly with Saint Stevens in Perth Amboy having educated and touching the lives of over a thousand grade school students. She graduated from Glassboro College with a degree in Education. Rita was often recognized and approached in local establishments by former students who declared their appreciation for her kindness and devotion to teaching.
Rita had a special love and respect for the Marines and routinely had students send letters and sweets to those stationed overseas. Rita participated in various humanitarian activities throughout her life and especially loved and enjoyed her friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to JFK Hospital.

My dad, Joe Novak, is Rita's cousin. I remember her from when I was a little girl. She would always buy me & my sister books for Christmas. I loved to read and it always meant a lot to me. I never forgot it. It sounds like a lot of people will remember her for her kind ways. Godspeed, Cousin Rita.

Ms. Novak was our teacher at St. Stephen's school. She was a good teacher and wanted every student in our class to succeed. She will be dearly missed. My prayers go out to her family.
