Rita Ramalho, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on February 29, 2024, with her family by her side. She was 86 years old.
Born and raised in Lowell, she was one of thirteen children of the late Joseph Perrault, and the late Virginia (Latendre) Perrault. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as spending time at the casino, engaging in friendly card games with her family, and embarking on leisurely rides. However, her greatest passion was her dedication to serving others.
For over three decades, Rita committed herself to her role as an outreach worker at the Lowell Senior Center. She took immense pride in her work, especially in teaching an aerobics class, where she inspired and uplifted countless individuals within her community.
Rita's life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family. She was the loving wife of Arthur Ramalho, who preceded her in death in 2019, following nearly 65 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a lifetime of cherished memories.
Left to honor Rita's memory are her children: Arthur Ramalho Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Lowell; David Ramalho Sr. of Hollis, NH; Susan Keefe and her husband, Francis, of Tyngsboro; Catherine Trask and her husband, Michael, of Merrimack, NH; and Joseph Ramalho Sr. of Dracut. She is also survived by a legacy of 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Arthur, Rita was preceded in death by her daughter, the late Patricia Baez, as well as her 12 siblings.
You are welcome to attend her visitation on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852. Her funeral will take place on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 10am in the funeral home followed by procession to Saint Joseph Cemetery.
