Rita Roberson

Rita Darnell Roberson, age 84, passed away on February 23, 2026. Rita was born in Independence, Mississippi, to William and Estell Darnell. She grew up attending New Hope Baptist Church, where she remained a devoted and longtime member throughout her life.

Rita graduated from Independence High School, where she was active in 4-H Club, FHA, and other school activities.

She was a devoted homemaker and also worked as a substitute teacher. Rita had a deep love for daylilies and took great joy in working in her flower beds. She was an excellent cook, a talented seamstress, and lovingly cared for her home and family.

Rita is survived by her two sons, Ricky Roberson (Stefanie) and Jeffery Roberson; her two sisters, Wilhelmina Patterson and Martha Bradshaw; as well as many nieces and nephews and two great-nephews. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, London and Katie, and five step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Roberson; her sister, Linda Eoff; and her grandson, Grant Roberson.

Rita will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family, and the beauty she created both in her home and in her garden. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
