Rita R. Shemanski

1935 - 2025

Rita Roberta Shemanski, 89, formerly of Lower Burrell, passed away on March 11, 2025. She was born on June 14, 1935, to Anthony and Mary (Werbitsky) Kasavage. Rita was a lifelong resident of the Lower Burrell area. Rita worked for PPG before retiring. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family. She also enjoyed Steelers football, winters in Florida, and vacations in Ocean City, MD, and Las Vegas, NV. Rita was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, PA. Three years ago she moved to Cypress, TX, where she made lots of new friends and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy L. Hoch (Joseph); grandchildren, Lauren (Brandon) Gasowski and Michelle and Brian Hoch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Shemanski; and her son, Robert Shemanski. The family wishes to thank the staff at Memorial Hermann Hospital, the staff at Spring Cypress Assisted Living and Memory Care, and Altus Hospice for the compassionate and wonderful care she received. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a local animal shelter or Saint Margaret Mary Food Bank in Lower Burrell, PA.
