Rita Kay Verdon, age 70, of Dayton, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on March 4, 2026.
Rita was born on August 19, 1955, in Crosby, Minnesota. She graduated from Crosby High School in 1973. Rita worked for North Memorial Medical Center for 40 years.
On November 24, 1974, Rita married the love of her life, Michael Verdon. Rita lived a life in Christ, defined by kindness, generosity, and selflessness. She was loved by many and always put the needs of others before her own. Her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her sons, Christopher (Anna) Verdon and granddaughter Peyton of Mora, MN and Carl (Sherri) Verdon and grandchildren Paisley, Crosby, and Gentry of Avon, MN; and her brothers, Larry (Mary) Rono of Crosby, MN and Charles Jr. “Butch” Rono of Crosby, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sr. and Joan Rono of Crosby, MN; and her sister-in-law, Rita Rono of Crosby, MN.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby, MN. A brief closing service will be held at 4:00 p.m. The gathering will be casual, and a light lunch will be provided. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
