Rita Diane Westphal

Rita Diane (Dillinger) Westphal passed away on June 13, 2023, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on November 1, 1974, in Des Moines, the daughter of Russell and Janet (McKenzie) Dillinger. Rita grew up in the De Soto area and graduated from Winterset High School in 1993.
After completing her education, Rita wasted no time and immediately embarked on her professional journey. She dedicated 13 years of her life to working at Timberline Billing, where she had many special friendships that she treasured.
While her career was significant, Rita found her greatest joy in being a devoted and loving mother. Her children, Keigan and Toby, whom meant the world to her.
Rita had a deep passion for shopping for shoes, cooking, crafting, and gardening, finding joy in these creative pursuits. Rita also cherished the time she spent with her friends, creating lifelong memories and sharing laughter together. Among these friends, Cindy Fyfe held a special place in her heart as a lifelong friend, supporting each other through the highs and lows of life.
Rita will be deeply missed by her children, Keigan and Toby Westphal; her fiancé, Ron Anderson; her parents, Russell and Janet, and sister, Barbara Brown. Additionally, she leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Austin Dillinger, Angel Brown, Natasha (Arturo) Zaragoza, and Devlin Brown, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a wide circle of friends, all of whom were enriched by her presence in their lives.
In the embrace of eternity, Rita joins her sister, Tina Marie Dillinger, who preceded her in death. She also reunites with her maternal grandparents, John and Betty McKenzie, and paternal grandparents, Robert and Margaret Dillinger, finding solace in their loving arms.
A visitation for Rita will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 PM on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. Inurnment will be in Montpelier Cemetery in Patterson, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorials may be direct to the family.
