Rita G. White, aged 82, passed away peacefully at Davis Place in Danielson on October 27, 2025. Rita was born in Putnam CT in 1943 to Alvin and Cora (Molloy) Durocher.
She pursued her passion as an LPN and graduated from Day Kimball Hospital in 1962. She was one of the first nurses to work at Stula Pavilion when its doors opened in the early 1970s. Coincidentally, she worked there for the next 28 years of her life.
She married in 1963 and went on to build a beautiful life. She leaves her husband, George of 62 years. She is also survived by their three children, Debra (White) Ayers and spouse Barry of Pomfret Center, Susan (White) Gosselin and spouse Tim of Brooklyn as well as her son Steven and spouse Kim (Hopkins) of North Carolina. She is also survived by sisters Pauline (Richard) Matthews and Elaine LaParle, as well as five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Though she stood just four feet 10 inches, her heart and spirit were larger than life. Knowing her would leave a positive and lasting impact because she was gentle, kind, and full of warmth. She adored her grandchildren, always showing up for every game, concert, and birthday party with her video camera in hand.
One of her favorite things to do was to go to yard sales with her daughters. She loved to find puzzles and was an avid reader. Her most precious time was spent with her loyal dog, Bandit.
Her kindness, her warmth, and her compassion for others will never fade. She was the pillar of her family, and she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.
