Robert E. Abruzzese, 82, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at home holding his daughters' hands. He is blessed to now be with his wife Janice who he missed dearly and shared 52 of the best and brightest years of his life. The sorrow he felt with her passing is now replaced with joy on their reunion.
Bob was a loving father. No matter how many times he made Lisa & Diane hold the flashlight or sit at the table until they understood their math homework, they appreciated his time, life lessons and love. He was a great listener and could fix anything. He dropped everything when he was needed and ended many calls with "I'll be right there". He had special bonds with both of his sons-in-law. He loved checking out Dennis's latest home projects, spending time with Butch on the golf course and entertaining them both with his ridiculous stories while enjoying a double Crowne on the rocks.
Bob treasured his granddaughters and beamed with pride whenever he was with them. He was excited by all of their accomplishments and bright futures. Jillian, Jaymee and Katy know how lucky they were to call him Pop Pop and will be forever grateful for the time they had with him.
Bob spent most of his adult life gracing the courses of Chester Valley, French Creek and Applecross. He golfed several times a week and enjoyed playing with his friends as long as they had the earliest tee time, played fast and they didn't lose too many balls. He had the unique ability to recall exactly how he played on any given hole at any course and had 4 aces in his lifetime, one as recent as 2022 on #11 at Applecross.
Born in Shreveport, LA & raised in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Dominic E. and Sara E. Abruzzese.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Bob spent his entire career with PECO/Exelon retiring in 2000.
Bob will be deeply missed by his daughters, Lisa A. Ressel and her husband Dennis and Diane A. Connell and her husband Butch; and by three grandchildren, Jillian (fiancé E.J. Nale), Jaymee and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his brothers, Dominic Abruzzese (Marie) and Thomas Abruzzese; his brother-in-law, William Forcine; and several nieces and nephews.
He specifically requested not to have an obituary. We respected our dad immensely but didn't always listen.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:00 - 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E Lancaster Avenue,
Downingtown, PA 19335. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
