ROBERT ANDERSON Obituary

ROBERT ANDERSON 05/01/1939 - 04/11/2025 Robert David Anderson of Hico passed away on Friday, April 11. A Celebration of Life is scheduled at First Baptist Church of Hico on Saturday, May 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4: 7 David was born on May 1, 1939, to the late James Grady "Buck" Anderson and Robert Bethel Thompson in Hamilton, Texas. David was an athlete: playing football, basketball, and running track at Blanket High School. He attended Cisco Junior College on a track scholarship where he finished 6th in the nation in the 2 mile. He was a teacher, coach, and a lifelong learner. He earned his bachelor's degree from Howard Payne University, his master's from Texas A&M. He was one of 30 men in the United States to be chosen by National Science Foundation to complete certification for Earth Science. He dedicated 51 years to Texas public school students, teaching in Hico, Waco, Bryan, and Granbury. He loved his wife of 62 years, Joyce Anderson, and his family of three children, two daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He was a man of faith, a member of First Baptist Church, a husband, dad, Pa Pa, a teacher. He donated his body to UT Southwestern Medical School to continue to serve as a teaching tool.
