Obituary of Robert B. Aranda
Robert B. Aranda (86) of Thornton Colorado, passed away on August 21, 2023. Robert, who went by Bob, was born to Paul and Cora Aranda on February 9, 1937, in Denver Colorado. From a young age Bob showed a strong work ethic which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Starting as a young boy with running errands, mowing lawns, shining shoes, setting pins at the bowling alley, selling hot dogs and popcorn at the Bear Stadium, he eventually worked at Cudahy Bar-S for 25 years, and then worked for United States Postal Service until he retired after 22 years of employment.
Bob was drafted into the Army in 1959 where he served for 2 years, 2 months and 22 days.
Bob is survived by his wife Virginia Esther Aranda to whom he was married for 65 years. He is also survived by his two children, Julianne and Robert (Denise) Aranda, two grandchildren Robert (Alexis) Aranda Jr and Kaitlyn (Aranda) Proffitt, 4 great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his eldest grandchild Julia Randa Ellis-Muse.
Bob was a friendly and helpful person, making friends not only with neighbors but people at the local stores and even the pharmacy. He was not a man of many words, but his language was that of helping; home repairs, yard work, moving and he was there giving of his time and strength.
Bob was an avid golfer. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. When he retired, he picked up the hobby of woodworking inspired by shop class from his high school years. Starting with small boxes he progressed to frames, glass lined bookshelves, and furniture. Photography was another hobby he excelled at with beautiful scenic pictures decorating the walls of his home.
A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be at Brighton Seventh-day Adventist church Saturday September 9th at 2:30 pm with a reception following. 567 Bromley Lane, Brighton CO.
NOTE: Bob's service will be live streamed for friends and family who are unable to attend at:http://www.brightonsda.org/
