Every time that I put blueberries into my cereal, I think of Robert. He'd bring his blueberries and cereal to Maidenhead Bagel for breakfast, as we'd all gather around the wobbly tables and chairs for morning coffee. Robert told me that blueberries are great antioxidants! He also advised me on the best Health Insurance to add to my Medicare and I still use it! Even though I only knew him a few years, I'm grateful for that time. He was a great gentle soul:) Cheryl Ferguson

When Bob first arrived in Trenton was never discussed between us, but he and I did talk some about the WW II era and our mutual recall of the city of the Post War years. We spoke of the relative economic vigor of the latter period and the shops and department stores in and around State and Broad Streets and of Cadwalader Park. Upon my return to Lawrence Twp., he was the only one I met who seemed to have first hand knowledge of that time and place, tho I'm sure there were others. I truly enjoyed those cordial conversations with Bob over coffee at the Maidenhead Bagel Shop, in Lawrenceville.

Bob was a fiesty friend with whom it was my frequent pleasure to exchange barbs. The last time I saw him was a few days shy of New Years, 2019. He showed his generosity in treating a group to dinner following a talk I gave as Mark Twain. He looked thinner than I remembered him, but in good spirits. While we weren’t close, he was often on my mind as I enjoyed the challenge of his acquaintance. He enriched my life because of it and I hope I was able to do the same for him. May his memory be for a blessing.

Robert was a kind and principled gentleman. We met in NY with mutual friends and spent a lot of time over several years enjoying the outdoors. We fished in Long Island for striped bass and had fun cookouts grilling our catch with invited friends over for cocktails & dinner. We shared a chalet in Zermatt with another friend: Norman Block. We skied down to Cortina D'Ampezzo in Italy, and then took the Italian funicular back to the top, crossed the glacier, and skied back down over the Swiss border back to Zermatt.
On Sundays in the fall, we would go horseback riding in Muttontown,Long Island with our friends from NYC , jumping fences through the farms in the area and finished the day in Robert's apartment where Bloody Maries & omelettes were prepared and proudly served by Chef Aresty!
Robert served as a groom at our wedding in Houston, Tx in January 1973
where he stood out with his big smile and marvelous sense of humor.
We shall miss him and will always remember what an exceptional human being he was.

I was very saddened to hear of Spike Aresty's passing. Yes, I knew him by the name of Spike. We lived in the same neighborhood growing up - Hiltonia in Trenton, NJ. We were the same age. I just turned 79.
I extend my most heartfelt condolences and sympathies to his loved ones.
Peace and Blessings,
Barbara Gabbe-Harris (maiden name - Groobman)

Bob Aresty and I met in the Hamptons about 50 years ago. We shared many seasons there and numerous evenings in Manhattan with our ladies. Several years ago we began having dinner in Manhattan every few months with Tom Kuhns and Bob Ashton. Our diverse careers, experiences and interests made the discussions during those evenings memorable. I will miss Bob's wry sense of humor and incisive remarks.

Aleta, We are long time friends of your beloved Bob (Robert). Ralph shared a beach house with him in Quogue for 4 summers. Bob was always the chief cook and his sense of humor made everyone smile. He was truly a renaissance man with his knowledge of many topics. His love of his family included pride and involvement. In 1972 we found great joy in having him as a handsome groomsman at our wedding. Sallie and Ralph Smith
