**In Loving Memory of Robert Leverne Atkinson**
Robert Leverne Atkinson, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, was born in Johnston County, North Carolina, on January 16, 1948. He peacefully left this world on July 5, 2025.
Robert dedicated his life to his family and community. He joined the First Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, embracing his faith as a cornerstone of his life. After graduating from William Mason Cooper High School in 1966, he devoted many years to his career at the North Carolina Central Research Station in Clayton, NC, where he remained until his retirement.
Known for his ability to bring joy to those around him, Robert had a unique talent for making family and friends laugh, often sharing colorful stories and tall tales from his youth. His warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Clyde Atkinson, his brother William Atkinson, and his sister Trudy Byrd. He is survived by his seven children—three sons: Robert, Jeffery, and Cadimus; and four daughters: Yolanda Covington (Troy), Kimberly Kirby (Bill), Tracy Dubose (Nobbie), and Tonya Villagomez (Hugo). Additionally, he leaves behind two sisters, Brenda Bryant (Judson) and Deborah Finch (Craig); 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
His motto was to live life to the fullest, cherishing the simple pleasures of spending time with loved ones and enjoying music. Robert's legacy of love and laughter will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he touched.
