Robert Wayne Baker

Robert “Wayne” Baker, 73 of Wilson passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023.  A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Rev. Walt Tyndall will officiate.

 

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home.

 

Wayne was born in Wilson County in 1950.  He graduated from Saratoga High School in 1968.   He worked with Wilson County School Bus garage for twenty-eight years.  Wayne really loved his job and was very proud of the work he performed to keep his buses safe for students to ride.  Wayne was also the owner and operator of Vacuum Sales and Services in Rocky Mount for fifteen years.

 

Wayne is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Vickie; daughters, Michelle Baker Arensman (Monty) of Wake Forest and Jennifer Baker Pittman (Brad) of Wilson; grandchildren, Meredith Arensman Saling (Kyle) of Spring Hope, Kaitlyn Arensman of Wake Forest, Ben Arensman of Wake Forest, Thomas Pittman (Allie) of Wakefield, Virginia, and Emilee Pittman of Wilson; great-granddaughters, Haddley Pittman and Delilah Pittman both of Wakefield, Virginia; brother, Silas Ray Baker (Debbie) of Elm City; sisters, Violet Bridgers (Dallas) of Lucama, Faye Grady (Kenneth) of Goldsboro,  and Grace Barnes of Wilson; several nieces and nephews that he loved and his beloved Furbaby, Zoey who loved him so much.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth and Silas Baker, and his brothers, Buck Holloman, Junior Holloman, and Douglas Holloman.
