Robert Baker Obituary

GREENVILLE -- Robert Nathaniel Baker II, age 88, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully to meet his Lord on October 18, 2025.

He was born on April 9, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Robert Benjamin Baker and Agnes "Pud" (Teaford) Baker-Flory. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Buena (Luis) Baker; sister, Joy Huff and brother-in-law, Allan Huff; infant brother, Nathaniel; and niece, Kay Smith.

Those left to cherish Robert's memory include his children: Cheryl (Bruce) Salyer of Louisville, Kentucky; Suzanne Gagnon of Dublin, Ohio; and Mark (Janel) Baker of Kokomo, Indiana; and grandchildren: Chloe Salyer, Elizabeth, Anna and Joseph Gagnon; and Seth, Isaiah, and Levi Baker.

He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Albert (Mena) Luis and Reynaldo (Jessie) Luis; nephew-in-law, Larry Smith; nephews, Chris (Karen) Steele, Jay (Tara) Luis, and Lazar Luis; niece, Eingelskween (Michael) Luis-Miranda; and great-nieces and great-nephews: Michelle (Randy) Ruble, Michael Smith, Taira, Kelsie, and Joshua Ruble; Craig Steele, Danielle Steele, and Darrian Steele; Angel (Charlie) Sipp and Oliver Sipp; Aiden Luis; and Paige Luis; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert grew up in New Madison, Ohio, and graduated from New Madison High School in 1955. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Technical Sergeant. During his military career, he was stationed overseas in Da Nang, Vietnam; Okinawa, Japan; and Clark Air Base in the Philippines.

Following his military service, Robert worked as an electrician for Frigidaire, General Motors, Harrison Thermal, and Delphi Corporation for more than 24 years before retiring. He had a deep love for the Bible and enjoyed puzzles, playing Mahjong and cards (Euchre and Pinochle), and watching the

Cincinnati Reds. He also found joy in working on home projects, attending Tri-Village basketball games, and spending time with friends.

Family was at the heart of Robert's life. He especially loved preparing and hosting the annual Teaford reunion at his home in New Madison. He cherished celebrating the holidays and spending time with his children and grandchildren. A devoted member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, Ohio, Robert lived his faith with quiet strength and dedication.

Robert and his beloved wife, Buena, were married in 1966 and shared over 53 years of love and companionship before her passing in 2019. Their shared passion for travel took them on countless adventures after retirement, including 16 memorable cruises and journeys through the Caribbean, Europe, and Hawaii, creating memories they treasured together.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus.

A celebration of Robert's life will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Gary Cloyd o?ciating. A graveside service, where his cremains will be interred with his wife, will take place at a later date.

Robert's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Brethren Retirement Community for the love and care they provided. Memorial contributions may be made to The Brethren Retirement Community Resident Aid Fund, 750 Chestnut Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
