Robert Stephen Balcerak

Robert (Bob) Stephen Balcerak passed away on December 8, 2024 and would have been 89 years old on Christmas Day 2024.
Bob was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Christmas Day 1935, to Julia and Peter Balcerak. Julia went into labor late on Christmas Eve, but the doctor was at a holiday party that evening and told Julia to hold on until he left the party. She did and the doctor finally arrived early Christmas day at which time Julia and Peter welcomed their little bundle of joy into the world.
Bob, who was also known as Chez, graduated from Little Flower School in Baltimore which was right around the corner from his home. At Little Flower he was active in school activities, was an altar boy and became involved in the school's Drum Corp where he developed a love of music. After graduating high school, Bob attended the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia where he pursued a degree in electrical engineering. While attending Georgia Tech Bob joined the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity where he was a proud member. Bob's love for cooking started in college where he cooked for his fraternity brothers to help finance his educational expenses. After graduating he moved back home to Baltimore, started a family and a new engineering career with AAI. Seven years later he relocated the family to Atlanta and began a new position with Lockheed Martin. While in Atlanta, Bob stayed busy coaching his children's soccer team, spending time with friends and enjoying down time with the family at his vacation home on Lake Lanier.
Eventually, Bob would find his way to Florida after accepting a job offer from Radiation Inc., which became Harris Corporation and is now known as L3Harris Technologies. Bob ultimately retired from Harris. This move to Florida helped to advance Bob's career and provided a wonderful place to raise a family. The family settled in Indialantic, Florida in June of 1972. Bob joined the Eau Gallie Yacht Club that year where he would remain a member for 52 years. His love for tennis started at the Yacht Club where he remained very involved with tennis throughout the years. Bob enjoyed playing tennis every weekend with friends. Bob loved his Yacht Club family and friends and looked forward to his Friday night visits to socialize. He was also a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church family for 52 years. He sang in the choir every Sunday morning and rarely missed singing at funerals for others. Bob was a very active member of Holy Name and treasured his church family.
In addition to tennis, Bob had many interests over the years that kept him busy, he was a champion tomato grower, a talented cook who loved to make lasagna, he participated in his kid's diverse activities, tinkered in the garage fixing everything, enjoyed singing in the choir, riding his bike, dancing at the club and socializing with his friends and family.
He will be missed by all, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering from recent illnesses.
Bob is survived by his children, Dianne Dakota, Robert Balcerak Jr. (Karen), David Balcerak (Deanna), John Balcerak, Jacquelyn Stewart, five grandchildren, Brittany Rodgers (Anthony), Ashley Cushman (Adrian), David Balcerak (Catalina), Daniel Balcerak (Kaley), Kaitlin Galvan (Pablo) and 10 great grandchildren, Addison, Jack, Harper, Graham, Dakota, Andrew, Camila, Colton, Diego and Nora.
