He is survived by his son Robert, and his ex-wife Beth. Robert shared many years with his companion, Kim Shreffler and her three children, Kelsey, Lee and Abby. He was also the proud owner of two beloved dogs, Rosie and Dottie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

You are more than a memory and more than a friend, blood makes you related but loyalty makes you kin. Last night's sky was aflame with bold color and made me wonder if you're lighting up heaven with the ol' panhead, or was it a shovelhead, I never was too good at knowing the difference but you didn't seem to mind. You just smiled that smirkish smile, grinned, and laughed that unforgettable laugh. The words of Brantly Gilbert's song sum things up well
"How's that steel horse ride on the streets of gold?
Does the promised land have any ol' back roads?
Ain't a doubt you've done a burnout on a cloud
