Robert Earl Bamberg Jr.

Robert Earl Bamberg Jr., of Ashland, was born March 7, 1943, and went to be with his Lord Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, at the age of 82.

Robert lived a full life of service to the Lord, his family and his country.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Cloud Bamberg, whom he married Dec. 5, 1970.

He is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Earl" Bamberg III and Pamela Jill Gray Bamberg; and three granddaughters who were his greatest loves, Grayci Sue, Remington Rose and Freya Pearl Bamberg, all of Fairview Alpha.

Robert served in the United States Marine Corp. Military Police and was deployed to Vietnam for a time. He served six years before being medically discharged.

His most important work was as a Baptist minister serving mission work with Peggy and Earl in Mexico for five years followed by three in New York state. He returned home to Ashland where he continued to pastor churches including Ashland Baptist, with his last being Pilgrim Home Baptist Church. He also served the Lord with his music as a bass guitarist for the gospel group, the Good News Band, was active with many church youth groups and played drums for the Natchitoches Tribe of LA.

Robert was active in coaching little league for years before his son was born and continued for many more after Earl arrived in 1986. The pair hunted and fished together and since Robert was a fan of antique trucks and tractors, they attended every show they could as a family. In addition to his son, Robert took an active interest in his nephews, spending as much time with them as possible.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl and Eleanor Bamberg.

A wake will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 at Ashland Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Dave Moore and Bro. Jerry Martin officiating, assisted by Bro. Danny Slack. Burial with Military Rites will be in Hathorn Cemetery in Ashland followed by food and fellowship for family, friends and loved ones at Ashland Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Service music will be provided by great-nephew, Austen Sullivan.

Pallbearers will be David, Sam, Alan, Ben and Dan Dupree and Tony Brown.

Honorary pallbearer will be Austen Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in Robert's name be made to Ashland Baptist Church, 528 LA-153, Ashland, LA 71002, or Shriner's Hospital for Children, Shriners Children's Processing Center, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
