A rosary service for Robert “Bob” Barnes, 72, of South Heart formerly of New England will be at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023 at at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the service.
Bob passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at his home in South Heart.
Robert “Bob” Barnes was born September 22, 1951 in Kearney NE., to Kenneth and Margaret (Hawe) Barnes. He grew up and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1969. After High School he began working for the power line which brought him to New England, North Dakota. Bob started working at the Golden West Bar when he met Sandra Kilwein. The couple was married May 19, 1978 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New England. Together the couple bought the bar and owned it for over 33 years. After selling the bar they moved to South Heart.
Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, shooting pool, and watching the Huskers. He was a member of St. Pius Verein and the New England Volunteer Fire Department.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandy of South Heart; children, Nicole (Joe) Rebel of New England, Robby (Krista) Barnes, of Dickinson, John Barnes of NE; grandchildren, Aidan Rebel, Lincoln Rebel, Kendall Berg, Bryanna Berg; sister, Karron (Dick) Deems of CO; and brother, Dick (Jennifer) Barnes of NE.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Kenneth and Margaret Barnes; sister, Liz Cox; and brother, Jack Barnes.
