Robert Battle

Robert Leonard Battle was born on August 23, 1947, to the union of James and Mary Battle who preceded him in death. Also preceded in death were three brothers: Eddie (Sandee), Melvin (Victoria), James Junior.

Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, sibling and uncle. Graduated from Elizabeth H. Keys High School in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, in 1966. He attended Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, Mississippi. After graduating he served in the United States Army and also, he later retired from the Army Reserve Army as a Specialist 5th. Class. He was a devoted worker at the Veteran Affairs Hospital for 44 years.

Robert was married to the love of his life Minister Gladys L. Battle for 55 years. He leaves to cherish his loving memories; his wife, Minister Gladys Battle, Children of love, Fred Williams, Lois Williams, and Carolyn Baskton. Sisters: Thelma B. Gales of Fayette, Mississippi, Joyce Battle of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Pearl (Willie) Scarborough of Pascagoula, Mississippi, Sally Redmond of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Brothers: Howard Battle of Seattle, Washington, Joseph Battle (Blanch) of Tucson, Arizona, Edward Battle (Sharon) Ocean Springs, Mississippi. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Main Street Baptist Church.  Visitation will start at 10:00 am.
