Robert "Bob" J. Beck, born on February 12, 1949, in
Johnstown, PA, passed away peacefully at his home in
Greensboro, NC, on December 24, 2025, at the age of 76, surrounded by his beloved family.
Bob dedicated his life to serving his country and community. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. Bob was awarded numerous medals, ribbons and commendations for his heroic and exemplary service, including: the Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two campaigns, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Humanitarian Service Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Meritorious Masts, Letters of Appreciation, and Certificates of Appreciation.
Following his retirement from the Marine Corps, Bob continued his professional journey with Specialty Tires of America in Indiana, PA, before transferring to Unicoi, TN, where he served as the personnel manager.
Bob was a man of many passions who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved hiking in the mountains and forests and, as an avid hunter, cherished his time at his hunting camp, Hellawhee. He enjoyed playing cards and was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bob especially loved being outdoors-soaking up the sunshine while sitting by his swimming pool, spending long days at the beach enjoying the ocean, and relaxing on the glider swing with his wife as they shared fresh air and quiet moments together. He also found great joy in barbecuing for family gatherings, and fishing with his brothers was another treasured pastime that brought him immense happiness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jennie Hutzell Beck, and his brother, Delbert Beck. Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Suzanne (Sue Clark) Beck; his brother, Edward Beck; his daughter, Stacey Ford, and her husband, Sean; his son, Robert Beck; and his cherished grandchildren, Bryson, Nathan, and Dylan. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
Per Bob's wishes, there will be no services planned at this time.
Bob's legacy of love, dedication, and service will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
