Robert R. Bendel

Robert R. Bendel, a beloved figure in both his professional and personal life, passed away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on June 16, 1945, Bob lived a life enriched by service, family, and joy.

Bob began his career with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, where he dedicated 28 years of his life as a deputy, eventually achieving the rank of Lieutenant. His commitment to public service was unwavering, and he worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of his community. After retiring from the Sheriff's Office, he continued to serve the public as a bailiff for the First District Court of Appeals of the State of Ohio, a position he held until his retirement in 2010.

Education was important to Bob, who graduated from Boardman High School in Boardman, Ohio, in the Class of 1963. He took immense pride in being a member of the Boardman High School marching band, which instilled in him a lifelong love for music. Bob furthered his education at The Ohio State University, where he was part of the renowned band TBDBITL and showcased his talent on the tuba. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, which paved the way for his career in law enforcement.

Known for his outgoing and fun-loving personality, Bob was often referred to as the life of the party. He had a special ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him, creating cherished memories with friends and loved ones wherever he went. His adventurous spirit thrived in travel, as he loved visiting new places and embarking on exciting cruises, experiences that further enriched his life.

Bob was especially proud of his children, whom he spoke of with great affection and pride. He cherished each accomplishment and made it a point to celebrate his children's success at every opportunity. His love extended beyond family to his beloved dogs, who brought him immense joy and companionship throughout his life.

Bob is survived by his children, Janine (Lawrence) Saldivar, Jeffrey (Diane) Bendel of Jacksonville, FL, Stephanie Hansen (Lewis Myers), Russell (Jenny) Bendel of Greensboro, NC; brother, Richard (Susan) Bendel of Raleigh, NC; as well as many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Louise (Lobinger) Bendel.

Bob's family will celebrate his life privately.
