Robert Glenn Berkley

Robert Glenn "Bob" Berkley, age 76, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026 at his home in Montgomery, Texas. Born to parents William Berkley, Sr. and Margaret McMurrough in Pasadena, Texas on March 13, 1949, Bob lived a life defined by service, integrity, curiosity, and love for his family and community.

Bob was a proud Navy veteran who served his country and started a fire-fighting career on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk in the Vietnam War. His dedication to public service continued throughout his distinguished career. He served as Captain of Station 25 and then as an arson investigator with the Houston Fire Department. He later served as Chief of the Montgomery Police Department. In every role, Bob was known for his fairness, leadership, and unwavering work ethic.

Beyond his professional life, Bob was a cattle rancher at heart and a natural problem-solver who loved learning how things worked and teaching others along the way. He spent most of his time either in his tractor or working on it, which was one of his greatest passions and where he felt at home. He found joy in riding motorcycles, playing the drums, spending time with loved ones, and tackling any challenge that came his way. He was hardworking, kind, loving, endlessly curious, and an exceptional teacher to many.

Bob is preceded in death by his dear son Brian. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Berkley; his son Robert, Jr. and his daughters Ryley, Lainey and Lyndsey; his son Daniel and his wife Kristina, and his sons Daniel, Jr. and Ethan; his daughter Stephanie and her husband Jose, and their children Jase, Bryce, and Jenna; his stepdaughter Simone and her husband Josiah, and their daughter Dahlia; his stepdaughter Olivia; his stepson Roland and his wife Lauren; his brother William Berkley, Jr. and wife Gayle, their daughter Brandy and her husband Tom; his cherished African grey parrot Dixie and his loyal horse Beau; and more family and friends than can be counted, whose lives were better for having known him.

Bob's legacy is one of service, strength, and compassion. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
